REVEREND MICHAEL ROSE

PRIEST IN CHARGE

The Reverend Michael Rose was born and raised in Kingston upon Hull, East Yorkshire. He left school at 16 and joined the Royal Navy as a Seaman Gunner serving all over the world.

On leaving the Navy in 1986 Mike worked in Operating Theatres in the NHS in Devon, and for Social Services in Hampshire. He went to the University of Hull as a ‘mature student’ and read for a degree in Philosophy. Shortly after University Mike discerned a call to the Priesthood which was confirmed and he studied theology at Westcott House, and Clare College, Cambridge. 

He served a three year Curacy in the City of Lincoln when he met his now, wife, Sue. Sue also discerned a call to Priesthood and also studied at Westcott House, Cambridge and the University of the South, Sewannee, Tennessee. 

Mike was Vicar of six Parish Churches in Lincolnshire, Mission to Seafarers Chaplain and Priestly Ministry in Canterbury Diocese and as a School Governor. 

Reverends Mike and Sue have family in Hull, York, Eastbourne, Hailsham, Worthing and a new addition, Granddaughter Mabel aged 8 months in Portslade, and Illyas aged 14 in Eastbourne.  Mike’s interests include Astronomy, Chess, History, Music, and all things Seafaring. 

Rev’d Mike is delighted to follow God’s call to the Ancient Parish of Pevensey.
